Operating Systems
Most reasonable PC office systems specified today will support AutoCAD.
There is also an Apple version, but this has some limitations compared to the PC systems. Link to a Windows/Mac OS comparison. I do not have any experience with Apple personal computer systems, so this website focuses on Windows-based systems.
Linux systems are not currently supported by AutoCAD.
Workstations
Recommended system:
- I7 CPU or equivalent.
- 32Gb RAM minimum
- Nvidia/AMD games or professions level GPU.
- A dual-screen is helpful.
- SSD storage drive – at least 1 Tb for the C: drive
- We recommend a second physical disk drives for CAD systems, usually allocated as d:\
- Note that many cloud-based services, such as the AutoDesk Construction Cloud, synchronise files to a local workstation drive and, at present, work best if synchronised to a C: drive.
